About this event
Ayad Akhtar joins Minelle Mahtani at Vancouver Writers Fest to discuss The Radiance, his new novel.
The book moves between rural America and Europe, Islam and Christianity, and intimate and metaphysical concerns. It considers a fraught moment in American history and spiritual transformation in an age of fracture.
Akhtar's previous book, Homeland Elegies, was included among Barack Obama's favourite books of the year and appeared on best-of lists from The New York Times, Washington Post and Publishers Weekly.
The event is Oct. 20, 2026, at 6 p.m. Vancouver local time. Standard tickets are CAD 28; youth under 25 pay CAD 15, and members or seniors 65+ pay CAD 25.20, including taxes and service fees; the event ends at 7:30 p.m.
