About this event
Vancouver Writers Fest brings together Louise K. Blight, Briony Penn and Jackie Morris for a discussion of birdlife, climate change and what birds may teach people about Earth's future. Laura Lynch moderates.
Blight's Where the Earth Meets the Sky chronicles her penguin research in remote Antarctica. Penn's The Seabird Trials traces an oil-spill court case that produced the first North American settlement compensating for the destruction of wild animals. Morris introduces The Book of Birds, an illustrated work co-authored by Robert Macfarlane.
North America has three billion fewer birds than half a century ago, and almost half of bird species worldwide are declining. Their warnings frame this discussion about birdlife, climate change and our future.
Standard admission is CAD 28; youth under 25 pay CAD 15; member and senior 65+ tickets are CAD 25.20. Current Showpass totals include taxes and fees at those amounts.
