About this event
A cup of tea can offer a way to slow down, gather, and reflect together. In many cultures, tea is connected to family, home, migration, adaptation, and cultural exchange.
This workshop explores these connections by creating zines with drawing and writing. It is offered in English with Mandarin support.
The October 21 workshop runs 5–7 pm at Brighouse. Registration through Richmond Public Library is required.
Create drawings, writing and collage inspired by the taste, smell and memories of four teas. All newcomers to Canada are welcome; attend alone or with a friend or family member. The workshop is led by Wen Wen (Cherry) Lu, a multimedia artist working in installation, illustration and animation. She graduated from Emily Carr University in visual arts in 2017 and has taught at Shadbolt Centre for the Arts since; her work appears in public spaces, galleries and screening venues, drawing on family history, culture, nature and community. Presented with Cinevolution, founded in Richmond in 2007 by immigrants and volunteers, supporting diasporic voices and intercultural dialogue through film, exhibitions, workshops and community/artist initiatives. The session is in the second-floor Programme Room. Registration opened September 9 at 9 am. Library staff may take promotional photos or videos; tell staff if you prefer not to appear.
