About this event

Presented by Anvil Theatre and produced by Out of the Forest Theatre. Andrew Borden and his wife Abby were found dead in Fall River, Massachusetts, in August 1892. Their daughter Lizzie was the main suspect. She was tried and acquitted; the story goes that she wielded the axe that killed them. Overnight, she became one of America’s original “mad, bad and dangerous to know” icons.

Set to bluegrass music and murder ballads, the production combines gallows humour with vaudevillian horror to re-examine one of history’s most infamous murder cases.

Out of the Forest Theatre is a UK-based, multi-award-winning ensemble company. It takes misremembered or forgotten stories from history, sets them to folk music and uses them as a lens on today. Its work presents historical theatre irreverently, with a modern revisionist twist.

The performance is on October 17, 2026, at 7:30 pm. Cost: $38.00–$51.00.
