About this event
The 35th UBC Apple Festival is a family event celebrating apple diversity, organized by Friends of the Garden as a fundraiser for UBC Botanical Garden education, research and conservation. This October 18 session runs 11 am–4 pm; October 17 is a separate date.
Explore over 100 varieties of apples, crabapples and unusual fruit in the garden pavilion, with BC Fruit Testers Association displays and Master Gardener information on pests and diseases. Bring homegrown apples for expert identification. More than 50 apple-tree varieties are for sale, mostly one-year whips 60–120 cm tall. Enjoy apple dishes, coffee, chocolate, grilled cheese, hot dogs, potato snacks and popcorn, alongside the main stage, children’s area, market and displays. The full 2026 entertainment schedule is still to come. Volunteers help sell apples, trees, cider and pies and run the display and tasting tent.
From October 1, online admission is $15 for ages 8–64 and $14 for 65+; at the gate $18/$17. Ages 0–7 require a booked free ticket for every child. The early-bird $12/$11 offers ended September 30. Tasting Tent is an optional extra $12 for ages 8+, with a separate free ticket for children 0–7. Children under 13 must be accompanied by a guardian over 18.
Paid festival admission is required even just to buy apples. Admission slots run up to 2 pm, but festival admission remains valid for later arrival before the grounds close at 4 pm. Tasting Tent capacity is limited: attend the booked slot, with slots up to 3:30 pm. If a ticket combination is sold out, try a different admission/tasting combination. Unavailable may mean the selected combination does not exist. Tasting tickets may be added later only after booking festival admission; log in to the existing UBC Tickets account. Any released tickets may appear on festival day.
Rain or shine: bring rain gear, warm clothing and boots. Pets are not allowed; service animals welcome. No refunds or changes for personal circumstances. If the festival is cancelled, tickets are fully refunded to the original payment card and purchasers contacted by email.
