About this event
Author Andrea J. Johnson leads this master class on creating a cosy mystery. Participants will start with three questions: Who are the suspects? What makes them suspects? Who is the sleuth? The session also covers plotting, pacing, clue placement and characterization, including how to give readers a reason to care about the crime and the detective’s motivation while keeping them guessing until the final page.
The class takes place on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm Pacific time at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel. It is available in person, by livestream and as a recording for 30 days. Per-class pricing is $129 CAD (approximately $90 USD) for conference registrants and $249 CAD (approximately $179 USD) for non-registrants. USD prices are approximate; all conference packages are charged in Canadian dollars, and the actual USD cost varies with the exchange rate charged by the attendee’s credit card provider.
