About this event
Nature Work Parties are drop-in opportunities to care for Surrey’s urban forest. Participants remove invasive plants, plant native trees and shrubs, clean up litter, and enhance habitat within the park. Tools and training are provided, and all ages are welcome with family and friends.
For the October 17 tree and shrub planting session, meet between the two soccer fields behind the recreation centre at Fraser Heights Park. Look for Surrey Parks tents and staff on arrival. Dress for the weather and bring water.
Programs may be cancelled because of strong winds or extreme weather. Participants may drop in or sign up to receive updates about upcoming opportunities and track volunteer hours.
The October 17 work party runs 1–3 p.m. at Fraser Heights Park, 10588 160 Street. This is a separate afternoon session from the morning community tree planting at the same park.
Groups of more than five should email the team at least one week in advance to discuss arrangements. Staggered start times are used where listed for orientation; the October 17 table lists a 1 p.m. start. Enquiries and group arrangements: stewardship@surrey.ca.
