About this event
Bring a broken household item to this free monthly Repair Café, where experienced volunteer fixers will attempt repairs to help extend an item's use, save money and reduce waste. Participants may bring one item per person per event. Items must be clean of dirt, food particles and grease, and clothing or textiles must be laundered. Fixers may refuse unclean items or advise when a repair is beyond their skill level.
Because of potential data loss, fixers usually do not repair cell phones, laptops or computers unless the problem is mechanical, such as a broken laptop hinge. Repair Café and its volunteer fixers do not provide new replacement parts and cannot repair large appliances. Participants must sign a House Rules waiver of liability.
Common items include electrical items such as vacuums, mixers, fans, juicers, blenders, popcorn makers, grills, coffee makers, kettles, lamps, toaster ovens, Christmas lights, heaters, air filters, drills, saws, sanders, hair dryers and other tools; electronic items such as radios, stereos, CD players, Bluetooth speakers and laptops; and mechanical items such as chairs, picture frames and bicycles, as well as items needing adjustment, glue or another repair. Space is limited, so arrive early to get time with a fixer.
Sessions run from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, October 20, Tuesday, November 17 and Tuesday, December 15, 2026, at Guildford Branch.
The October 20 session meets in the Meeting Room. Drop in; no registration is required.
