About this event
Drawing Without an Eraser takes its name from both the materials and the process. Working primarily with ink and Conté leaves little opportunity for correction, so each mark is deliberate and calls for patience, attention to detail and trust in the process.
The exhibition centres on animals whose forms, textures and expressions invite a closer look beyond conventional ideas of beauty. Rather than idealizing the subjects, the drawings aim to capture each animal’s individuality, character and quiet dignity. Even animals that may initially seem awkward or unattractive reveal a distinct beauty on closer observation. The work also reflects concern about human development reshaping and reducing wildlife habitats, leaving many species with an uncertain future. It celebrates the richness of the animal kingdom and serves as a quiet reminder of what may be lost through neglect.
The simple materials keep the drawings direct and uncluttered, with graphic clarity that rewards closer viewing. The exhibition is at Place des Arts’ Leonore Peyton Salon from September 11 to October 20, 2026. The salon is a multi-purpose space, so viewing times are limited; call 604.664.1636 before visiting to check availability. Website: johnlarsenart.com. Instagram: @johnlarsenart.
