About this event
The Album Show marks its 10th anniversary with a tribute to JJ Cale’s 1971 debut, Naturally. Led by Steve Dawson, an all-star lineup will perform the album in full, including its blend of blues, country, rockabilly and jazz associated with the Tulsa Sound.
The second set will feature the musicians’ personal selections from Cale’s catalogue. The program recognizes an album that includes “After Midnight,” “They Call Me the Breeze” and “Crazy Mama.” The event is co-presented with Capilano University Centre for the Performing Arts.
Guest artists are Jim Byrnes, Dee Daniels, Steve Dawson, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Leo D.E. Johnson, Chuck Mead, Lindi Ortega, Marin Patenaude, Chris Pierce and Chris Smither.
The concert is Oct. 16, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $79 premium, $69 standard, $65 for seniors and $29 for people under 35.
The October 16 performance is at Grosvenor Theatre, 1700 Mathers Avenue, West Vancouver. The album’s laid-back Tulsa Sound contrasted with louder commercial boogie, blues and country-rock. Eric Clapton covered After Midnight, Lynyrd Skynyrd covered They Call Me the Breeze, and Crazy Mama was a hit for Cale himself. For accessible seating, contact the box office at 604-981-6335.
