About this event
Writing an entire book can feel easier than pitching or summarizing it. Sorche Fairbank’s interactive session offers an overview of how to talk and write about a book in one sentence, one paragraph and one page.
The class explores uses for each format, including loglines and elevator pitches, query synopses and, for DIY authors, book-jacket descriptions, press releases and Amazon descriptions.
The class runs Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel, presented by the Surrey International Writers’ Conference. It is available in person, by livestream and as a recording; recordings are available for 30 days.
The per-class rate is $129 CAD (approximately $90 USD) for conference registrants and $249 CAD (approximately $179 USD) for non-registrants. Packages are charged in Canadian dollars; USD amounts are estimates based on the January 16, 2026 exchange rate, and the actual amount will vary with the card provider’s exchange rate.
