About this event
Celebrate Halloween in the urban forest on Saturday, October 31, 2026, 10 am–noon at Clayton Park, 18513 70 Avenue, Surrey. Plant native trees and shrubs to create habitat for bats, owls and other wildlife, and wear a costume for Halloween-themed fun.
Free and drop-in, with everyone welcome. Plants are limited and may run out before noon. Community groups should contact the organisers ahead of time. Tools and training are provided; dress for the weather and dirt, and wear sturdy closed-toe shoes.
Look for signs to the planting area, usually a short walk from parking or the park entrance. Accessible washrooms are available; most planting areas are reached by paved or gravel paths and service animals are welcome. Contact the organisers ahead of time about specific access needs. Snacks, water and warm beverages are available for planters; bring a reusable bottle or mug. You may bring a picnic, but take your rubbish away; alcohol is not allowed in unlicensed public spaces.
The event runs rain or shine and is cancelled only for extreme weather such as snow, high winds or lightning.
Most Surrey parks welcome leashed dogs; clean up after your dog. Picnic tables, shelters or benches provide seating, and you may bring a blanket or lawn chair. Parking is available at or near the planting sites; follow signs. For group attendance or specific accessibility inquiries contact stewardship@surrey.ca.
