About this event
Help plant trees and shrubs to grow Surrey’s urban forest. Free and drop-in; everyone is welcome. October 17, 10 a.m.–noon, Fraser Heights Park, 10588 160 Street. Tools and training are provided; dress for the weather and dirt, and wear sturdy closed-toe shoes.
Look for planting signs near the park entrance; sites are generally a short walk from the entrance or parking. Come anytime during the event, but plants are limited and may run out early. Groups should contact the team in advance. Picnic tables, shelters or benches are available; you may bring a blanket or lawn chair. Washrooms and nearby parking are available.
Accessible washrooms are available at all sites; most planting areas can be reached by paved or gravel paths. Service animals are welcome. Contact the team ahead of time for site-specific access questions. Leashed dogs are welcome in most Surrey parks; clean up after them.
Planters can have snacks, water and warm drinks; consider a reusable bottle or travel mug. Pack out any picnic items. Alcohol is not permitted in unlicensed public spaces. Events run rain or shine and are cancelled only in extreme weather such as snow, high winds or lightning. Contact the stewardship team at stewardship@surrey.ca.
