About this event
Rhythm + Stories is an interactive introduction to African culture through drumming, movement, storytelling and creative art-making. Facilitators from the Uganda Social Society in BC will explore how rhythm and stories can express identity, teach values and build community.
The inclusive program welcomes children, youth, families, caregivers and the general public. No previous music, dance or art experience is needed. Children 10 and under must attend with a parent or caregiver.
The event is supported by a bequest for music at the Library from the estate of Robert Leslie Welsh through the West Vancouver Memorial Library Foundation.
Register each child for a free ticket; accompanying adults do not need to register. The October 17 session runs 3–4 p.m. in Welsh Hall. Advance booking is currently open; reserve a free ticket for each child. Enquiries: youth@westvanlibrary.ca or 604-925-7408.
