About this event

In this workshop, participants learn to make their own lay-flat sketchbooks using one of the world’s oldest binding methods. They will test paper grain, turn large sheets into signatures, create hard covers with book cloth and decorative paper, and sew a sketchbook using the Coptic stitch.

All tools and materials are supplied: paper, end papers, book board, book cloth, PVA glue, binding thread, a metal ruler, cutting mat, craft knife, bone folder, glue brush, curved needle and tear bar. Nothing is required from participants, though they are welcome to bring decorative paper they would like to work with.

The workshop takes place Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 10 am to 2 pm at THIS Gallery.
