About this event
The Polygon Gallery presents the first major institutional survey of Canadian contemporary photographer Greg Girard. The exhibition features more than 160 photographs spanning the past half century, including outtakes not previously seen in his photobooks. Presented chronologically, it begins with some of Girard’s earliest photographs, taken as a teenager in 1970s Vancouver, and follows his travels down the West Coast and beyond. It also traces his work as a freelance journalist in Asia, including contributions to publications such as Time Magazine. Images from the now-demolished Kowloon Walled City and Shanghai are included, alongside his urban landscapes and portraits. The exhibition concludes with recent photographs revisiting the Lower Mainland, including North Vancouver and Surrey. It opens alongside the launch of his new publication, Greg Girard – Photographs 1972–2026.
The exhibition runs from Friday, July 10 to Sunday, October 25, 2026, at The Polygon Gallery. Hours are 10 am to 9 pm. Admission is by donation, courtesy of BMO Financial Group. Phone: 604-986-1351. More information: https://thepolygon.ca/
