About this event

Brass Tax brings its signature “circus jazz” sound to this theatrical performance, accompanied by performer Gerardo Avila. Inspired by traditions of remembrance from Mexico and around the world, Death and Taxes imagines a graveyard as a gathering place where music, memory, loss, mourning and celebration meet. Butterflies, hummingbirds, crows and ghosts move among the graves in a playful tribute to the enduring connection between the living and the dead.

The event runs on November 1, 2026, from 7 to 8:30 pm at The Djavad Mowafaghian World Art Centre (SFU Woodwards), presented by the DTES Heart of the City Festival.
