About this event
Patrick deWitt, known for his dark wit and eccentric, energetic plots, will discuss his latest novel, Dodge City. DeWitt is the bestselling author of The Librarianist and The Sisters Brothers and a familiar Festival favourite.
Dodge City follows a young man on an amphetamine-fuelled road trip across the United States as he flees Los Angeles and the Vietnam War draft for Canada. DeWitt will also discuss how his fiction illuminates the stranger aspects of human behaviour with humour and poignancy.
The event is moderated by David Moscrop. Presented by Vancouver Writers Fest on Oct. 20, 2026, at 6 p.m. Admission is $28.
The October 20 session runs 6–7:30 p.m. at Waterfront Theatre. Youth under 25 pay CAD 15; members and seniors 65+ pay CAD 25.20. Prices include taxes and service fees.
