Ashdale Gallery presents Love is Love, celebrating the career and practice of Two-Spirit Plains Cree artist George Littlechild. A survivor of the Sixties Scoop, Littlechild researched national archives to recover his roots, including links to Alberta leader Chief Maskepetoon and his Celtic and Mi’kmaq heritage. His work explores reclamation, storytelling, identity and visual resistance.
This new body of work moves beyond a mainly acrylic practice into mixed media, with crayons encouraging immediate, physical gestures, spontaneity and play. Littlechild is an internationally exhibited artist and award-winning author with multiple honorary doctorates.
On October 17, 2026, the artist talk begins at 5 pm, followed by the opening reception from 6 to 8 pm. An RSVP link is available on the gallery’s event page. The exhibition itself runs October 17–31; this listing is for the separately advertised opening event.
