Commercial building fire reported in Richmond’s Bridgeport area
Richmond Fire-Rescue crews fought a second-floor fire from outside after part of the building’s upper storey collapsed. No injuries were reported, and a nearby road remained closed.

Richmond Fire-Rescue was called to the Bridgeport area at about 4:40 p.m. Tuesday for a fire at a two-storey commercial building. Crews arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the second floor of a building in the 8900 block of River Drive.
Acting deputy chief Trevor Northrup said firefighters had to battle the fire from outside because the second storey had partially collapsed. Eight fire trucks and 23 fire-rescue staff attended the scene. Northrup said no injuries to firefighters or civilians had been reported to Richmond Fire-Rescue. At about 5:45 p.m., River Road remained closed near Great Canadian Way.
