Richmond RCMP schedules e-scooter and e-bike safety events
Richmond RCMP will hold three outreach events from August to September to share safety and legal information with e-scooter, e-bike and other road users.

Richmond RCMP will host three e-scooter and e-bike safety outreach events in August and September, aimed at riders and everyone sharing local roads and pathways.
The events run Aug. 8, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Steveston Boardwalk at the foot of No. 1 Road across from Starbucks; Aug. 28, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., on the shared path on No. 3 Road near Canada Line’s Lansdowne Station; and Sept. 9, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Railway Greenway and Granville Avenue.
Police say riders should know the rules, wear a helmet, avoid distraction or impairment, watch for hazards, observe posted speeds and signal when passing. Drivers are urged to watch closely at intersections, shoulder-check before turning or opening doors, and leave at least one metre when passing cyclists and e-scooter riders.
Cpl. Frank Bryson said predictable and respectful behaviour by all road users can help prevent collisions and serious injuries. Residents can speak with officers and partners and pick up educational materials at the events.
