Coquitlam man charged with six firearms offences after July arrest
A 35-year-old Coquitlam man remains in custody after police say a July 16 search of homes in Coquitlam and Surrey led to six firearms-related charges.

A Coquitlam man has been charged with six firearms-related offences after a July investigation and searches of homes in Coquitlam and Surrey, police say.
The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C. said its illegal firearms enforcement team began investigating 35-year-old Saadiq Azimali Daya in June. Search warrants were executed on July 16, and Daya was arrested in Coquitlam without incident.
Investigators said they seized multiple firearms from the Coquitlam home, including a Beretta 92FS .22 and a Beretta M9A3 9 mm.
The charges include two counts each of possessing a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm without the required authorization, licence and registration certificate; possessing a prohibited firearm somewhere not authorized under the Firearms Act; and improperly storing a restricted firearm under federal regulations. Daya remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 10.
