West Vancouver police stop sedan carrying oil drums on roof
Police ordered a sedan off the road after finding two large vegetable-oil drums improperly secured on its roof during a long-weekend enforcement campaign.

West Vancouver police ordered a sedan off the road after finding two large black drums balanced on its roof during the long weekend.
The West Vancouver Police Department said the industrial-sized containers held vegetable oil and were improperly secured and overweight. The occupants, who were reportedly headed to B.C.’s Interior, received a notice and order for non-compliance.
Sgt. Stephen France said drivers are legally responsible for keeping within vehicle-weight limits, ensuring the roof can safely carry a load and securing cargo. Failing to do so can endanger other road users, he said.
The stop came during a joint high-risk-driving enforcement effort by West Vancouver police and B.C. Highway Patrol between Whistler and West Vancouver. Officers issued 205 violation tickets, including 63 for excessive speeding of at least 40 km/h over the posted limit, as well as two immediate roadside prohibitions and one arrest of a prohibited driver.
