The Vancouver Goldeneyes named Delaney Collins as the team’s newest assistant coach on Thursday. Collins will join the staff while continuing as head coach of Hungary’s women’s national team. Head coach Cara Gardner Morey said in a team statement that the club was excited to have Collins aboard, citing her record of success on the ice and looking forward to starting the season together.

Collins is a former defender for Canada, with three gold medals at the IIHF World Championships in 2000, 2004 and 2007. After retiring, she began coaching as an assistant at Mercyhurst University in Pennsylvania from 2011 to 2016. She also served as both head coach and assistant coach of Canada’s U18 women’s team between 2014 and 2018. Collins began working with Hungary’s national program in 2022 and was named head coach in 2025.

Collins said it was a privilege to join the Goldeneyes as they enter their second season. She said she was most excited by the potential of the players and the culture already established in Vancouver. Gardner Morey leads the coaching staff after stepping away from the general manager role to take over as head coach from Brian Idalski. Alison Izzi was named the team’s new general manager last week.

The Goldeneyes open their second season on Dec. 5 at home against the Seattle Torrent at Pacific Coliseum.
