Motorcyclist seriously injured in New Westminster collision with pickup truck

A motorcyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries after colliding with a pickup truck in New Westminster on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash occurred at about 2 p.m. at the intersection of 8th Street and 8th Avenue, according to the New Westminster Police Department. BC Emergency Health Services said one person was transported to hospital. Police identified the injured person as the motorcycle rider and said their condition was serious but stable.

The police department said the investigation remains in its early stages. The area was closed to traffic Wednesday afternoon while officers gathered evidence.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash-camera footage from the area around the time of the crash to contact police. No further details about the cause have been released.
