Jinny Sims to run for BC NDP in Surrey-Panorama in Oct. 24 B.C. election
Former MP and provincial cabinet minister Jinny Sims has been named the BC NDP candidate in Surrey-Panorama for the Oct. 24 snap provincial election.

The BC NDP has named Jinny Sims as its candidate in Surrey-Panorama for British Columbia’s Oct. 24 snap provincial election. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 22, hours after the election was called.
Sims, a former MP and provincial cabinet minister, was elected twice in the riding, most recently in 2020. She lost the seat to Conservative candidate Bryan Tepper in the 2024 B.C. election. In 2022, she ran for mayor of Surrey and finished fourth.
Sims works as a radio show host at Swift AM 1200 in Newton. She said Surrey-Panorama residents are facing difficult challenges and called the BC NDP the only party with a plan. She said David Eby and the party’s team would continue working to lower costs for families and recruit more health-care workers, while accusing the Conservatives of cosying up to Trump.
