Surrey city council candidate Vera LeFranc outlines housing, infrastructure and affordability priorities
LeFranc, a Surrey Connect candidate, lists affordability, infrastructure and housing as her top priorities and says the city should use land, funding and streamlined applications to advance non-profit and missing-middle housing.

Vera LeFranc is a Surrey Connect candidate for Surrey city council. She describes herself as an experienced city councillor, an award-winning social innovator and a longtime Surrey community leader, with experience in health care, housing, social impact and civic leadership.
Her three priorities are affordability, infrastructure and housing. She says she would support a strong economy, good jobs and low taxes, and ensure transportation, roads, recreation facilities and parks keep pace with the community’s growth. She also wants land and predevelopment funding available for non-profit affordable housing and missing-middle or workforce housing, along with development charge support, so Surrey projects are ready to proceed when funding from senior levels of government becomes available.
Drawing on her experience building housing in the non-profit sector, LeFranc says she knows how to bring together land, funding and expertise to make projects work. She says Surrey should use every available tool, including land, predevelopment funding, development charge support and streamlined applications, to get non-profit and missing-middle housing projects ready when senior government funding becomes available. The aim, she says, is to give more people in Surrey a place to call home.
LeFranc says her experience can advance affordability, housing, health care, local infrastructure and equity, delivering stronger neighbourhoods, inclusive services and a better Surrey for everyone. Voters can find out more at surrey-connect.ca.
