North Vancouver RCMP say a driver was fined after being filmed holding a tablet with both hands while stopped at an intersection on Monday.
Video shared by the detachment shows the driver of an F150 using the device at the intersection. In a social-media post Wednesday, police used the incident to remind drivers that messages, email and scrolling can wait until they reach their destination.
The driver received a $368 fine and four demerit points. ICBC says 40 per cent of distracted-driving crashes occur at intersections, and that distracted driving is involved in an average of 80 fatal crashes and 2,424 injury crashes each year.
