Surrey council candidate Laurie Guerra promises four years of zero property tax increases
Safe Surrey Coalition candidate Laurie Guerra lists heritage designations, new pools and a four-year property tax freeze among her priorities for Surrey.

Laurie Guerra is a Safe Surrey Coalition candidate, a Fleetwood small-business owner, a mother of five, an autism advocate and a former city councillor. She says she helped deliver SkyTrain and two new ice sheets in Cloverdale.
Her three priorities are heritage designation for Crescent Beach and Ocean Park, zero per cent property tax increases for four years, and new pools for Clayton Heights and Cloverdale.
Guerra focused on the tax proposal, saying groceries, gas, mortgages and rent are squeezing Surrey families amid an affordability crisis, while property taxes have risen nearly 30 per cent in four years. She said city hall should be the one bill that does not go up. As a mother of five and small-business owner, she said every dollar counts. A Safe Surrey Coalition council would hold property taxes at zero per cent for four years, which she said would put money back in residents’ pockets.
Asked why people should vote for her, Guerra said voters deserve elected officials who keep their word. She said she kept hers on SkyTrain and the two Cloverdale ice sheets, and that Surrey families know she will do so again.
