B.C. Prosecution Service has approved three charges against Ryan Kohler, the former treasurer of the Anmore Elementary PAC, about 10 months after the organization reported significant financial discrepancies in its bank accounts.

Kohler, an Anmore resident, faces one charge of fraud over $5,000 and two theft charges. Coquitlam RCMP said the alleged offences occurred between October 2024 and May 2025.

The PAC said Kohler served as its treasurer during the 2024/25 school year. Coquitlam RCMP spokesperson Cpl. John Graham said the charges followed a detailed police investigation into alleged criminal actions. He said police recognize that allegations of this nature are concerning and have confidence in the judicial process now underway.

The current and former PAC chairs and the current treasurer said more than $20,000 was taken from PAC accounts. They said they hope the charges will result in restitution so the PAC can continue supporting children’s education and the school. PAC members thanked Coquitlam RCMP for pursuing the investigation.

None of the charges has been proven in court.
