Coquitlam summer concert to proceed as air quality improves
Coquitlam says tonight’s Classic Elton summer concert will go ahead as the Belcarra fire is stable and smoke conditions are expected to improve through the weekend.

Coquitlam says its summer concert featuring Classic Elton will proceed tonight as conditions improve around the air-quality advisory and the nearby Belcarra fire.
The city says the fire is stable and under control. Smoke is expected to begin clearing from coastal communities today, with further improvement forecast through the weekend.
Residents attending are encouraged to check air-quality readings at airmap.ca, drink water, keep cool and limit exertion if needed. The city advises people to leave early if they feel unwell or notice effects from the air, and to watch for impacts on accompanying seniors and children. People with health risks may wish to stay home.
If conditions worsen, concert updates will be posted at coquitlam.ca/SummerConcerts and on the city’s Facebook and Instagram accounts. The next concert, featuring The Country Divas, is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 4. The city also lists cleaner-air spaces open during regular business hours at coquitlam.ca/CleanAirSpaces.
