Several federal and provincial benefit payments are scheduled for September, according to a Daily Hive roundup. The payments arrive as the publication notes continued cost-of-living pressures: Statistics Canada reported June inflation of 1.9 per cent and a 2.8 per cent increase in store-bought food prices.

Ontario residents eligible for the Ontario Trillium Benefit are due to be paid Sept. 10. The tax-free benefit combines three credits: the Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit, Northern Ontario Energy Credit and Ontario Sales Tax Credit. Maximum amounts cited in the report include $1,283 for eligible recipients aged 18 to 64 under the energy and property tax credit, $1,461 for those 65 and older, and up to $371 under the sales tax credit, subject to eligibility and household circumstances.

The Canada Disability Benefit is scheduled for Sept. 17. It is administered by Service Canada for eligible Canadians aged 18 to 64 and can provide up to $200 a month. Canada Child Benefit and Child Disability Benefit payments are scheduled for Sept. 18. The report says the annual base child benefit is $7,997 for children under six and $6,748 for children aged six to 17 through June 2026; the child disability benefit can provide up to $284.25 a month per eligible child.

Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security payments are scheduled for Sept. 25. CPP is a taxable retirement benefit for people who have made at least one valid contribution and are at least 60; the report lists an average payment for new beneficiaries of $899.67 a month and a maximum of $1,433. OAS is available to eligible people 65 and older regardless of work history, with maximum 2025 monthly amounts of $734.95 for ages 65 to 74 and $808.45 for people 75 and older, subject to income thresholds.

Veterans’ disability pension payments are listed for Sept. 28. Eligible Canadian Armed Forces members and veterans, current and former RCMP members, and certain Second World War and Korean War veterans or civilians may qualify if they can demonstrate a diagnosed condition or disability is related to service. The benefit may be paid monthly for life or as a lump sum, with rates in the report ranging from $69.60 to $1,391.98.
