VPD says man arrested and charged after two alleged South Vancouver break-ins
Vancouver police say two alleged residential break-ins in South Vancouver on Thursday morning are believed to be linked. A 64-year-old man has been charged and remains in custody ahead of his next court appearance on Oct. 15.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is alerting the public after two alleged residential break-ins in South Vancouver on Thursday morning. VPD Property Crime investigators believe the incidents are linked, and a man has been charged.
At about 9:45 a.m., a man allegedly removed a window screen from a home near East 49th Avenue and McKinnon Street. The homeowner heard noises, got out of the shower and confronted him. The man immediately fled without taking anything.
About 30 minutes later, a man matching the same description allegedly broke a window and entered a home near West 48th Avenue and Ontario Street. He allegedly stole several items before leaving.
With help from the VPD Canine Unit, officers located and arrested a man matching the description. Daryl Silas Hunt, 64, has been charged with one count of attempted break and enter and one count of break and enter. He remains in custody pending his next court appearance on Oct. 15.
Investigators believe the suspect may be linked to additional break-ins in Vancouver. Anyone who has experienced a break-in and has not reported it to police is asked to contact the VPD and file a report.
