Oversized dozer truck ticketed on Garden City Road
Richmond RCMP issued two violation tickets after stopping a commercial truck carrying a roughly 3.8-metre-wide dozer without the required oversize permit.

Richmond RCMP stopped a commercial vehicle carrying an oversized dozer on Garden City Road on July 22 after the driver could not produce the required oversize-vehicle permit.
Police said the vehicle and load measured about 3.8 metres, or 12.4 feet, wide and occupied nearly two traffic lanes. The maximum allowable width under the Commercial Transport Act is 2.6 metres.
Vehicles exceeding that limit require an Oversized Vehicle Permit that sets safety conditions, including approved routes and, when needed, pilot vehicles. The driver was issued violations for failing to carry a permit and for load dimensions that did not conform.
Because the destination was nearby and a permit could not be obtained roadside, the driver was allowed to proceed directly there. RCMP said permits for oversized loads are important safety measures for all road users.
