Oasis reunion-tour documentary premieres at Venice Film Festival
“Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger” examines Noel and Liam Gallagher’s reconciliation and the band’s 2025 reunion tour after 16 years apart.

“Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger,” a documentary about Oasis’s reunion tour and the relationship between Noel and Liam Gallagher, had its world premiere Saturday at the Venice Film Festival. The brothers waved to photographers at the Lido docks but did not attend a news conference.
Part concert film and part exploration of the brothers’ contentious relationship, the documentary revisits the backstage altercation in Paris in 2009 that preceded Oasis’s breakup. The band was founded in working-class Manchester, England, in 1991. Its debut album, “Definitely Maybe,” reached No. 1 in 1994, and its 1995 followup, “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?,” became one of the U.K.’s bestselling albums.
The film includes unseen rehearsals and what was, at the time, the brothers’ first joint interview in 25 years. It also examines the enduring appeal of Oasis songs, many written by Noel Gallagher, including “Wonderwall” and “Live Forever.”
In 2025, Oasis ended a 16-year hiatus with a reunion tour that opened in Cardiff, Wales, before an all-ages crowd of more than 60,000. Former Oasis members Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs and Gem Archer played guitar, Andy Bell played bass and Joey Waronker played drums.
Writer Steven Knight said he and Noel Gallagher wanted to explore why the music has endured with both 1990s fans and a newer generation, helping fuel intense demand for reunion-tour tickets. Directors Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace interviewed the brothers separately before rehearsals, then together during the tour, and also followed fans around the world.
The film will reach theatres shortly after the festival. Disney will give it an IMAX release Sept. 11, with a Disney+ release expected later this year.
