NWPD says drugs found in vehicle after driver stopped while prohibited and impaired
New Westminster police say a driver was arrested after allegedly swerving and nearly hitting a concrete median on the stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge. He was prohibited from driving and failed a roadside alcohol screening test; police say they found suspected drugs and more than $1,800 in his vehicle.

A man is under investigation for drug trafficking after New Westminster police say officers found suspected drugs and cash in his vehicle during an early morning traffic stop. Police said officers arrested him at about 5 a.m. on Oct. 24 after seeing his vehicle “swerving repeatedly” and nearly striking a concrete median while crossing the stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge.
The New Westminster Police Department said the driver was subject to a driving prohibition and failed a roadside alcohol screening test. After searching the vehicle, police allegedly recovered “a quantity of drugs consistent with drug trafficking” and more than $1,800. Police have submitted samples of the suspected drugs to Health Canada for analysis and identification.
The man has been released from custody with conditions, including a driving prohibition, while the investigation continues. NWPD spokesperson Sgt. Andrew Leaver said officers’ proactive work led to the arrest. He said close attention to dangerous driving and a thorough investigation removed a prohibited and impaired driver from the road while uncovering suspected drugs and proceeds of crime.
