The Museum of Surrey will host its annual BOO-seum Halloween party on Oct. 24, the week before Halloween. The Cloverdale museum’s manager, Lynn Saffrey, previously told the Cloverdale Reporter that the event has become a signature way for children and parents to celebrate Halloween in Surrey.

The early Halloween celebration is open to all ages and will include games and activities for children. The museum’s mascot, Raj the Racoon, is expected to attend and usually dresses up. The family-friendly event is free.

Attendees can take Halloween photos with K’laro Phototainment (https://klarobooth.ca/lively), and children will have space to make themed crafts. The museum will also host its BOO-Bingo game. A spooky version of Surrey’s historical acting troupe, The Re-enactors, will perform in the theatre at select times between 1 and 3:30 p.m. Special characters from Royal Court Princess Parties will lead a costume parade.

The party runs from 1 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 24.

### Sensory-friendly event

The museum will also hold a Sensory Trick or Treat on Oct. 30, the day before Halloween, for those seeking a quieter experience. It will run from 4 to 8 p.m.

According to information on the City of Surrey website, families can visit relaxed trick-or-treating stations, take part in festive crafts and follow a scavenger hunt through the galleries. The event will have a calm, low-sensory environment, with no loud noises, strobe lights or jump scares. A sensory room and quiet spaces will be available for anyone who needs a break. The event is accessible to wheelchairs and strollers.

Admission to both events is free. For more information, call the museum at 604-592-6956, email museum@surrey.ca or visit surrey.ca/museum. The Museum of Surrey is at 17710 56A Avenue in Cloverdale.
