Rosalinda Thorleifson enters Coquitlam council race
Independent candidate Rosalinda Thorleifson says her Coquitlam council campaign will focus on growth, housing, infrastructure, local jobs and greater city-hall transparency.

Rosalinda Thorleifson has entered the race for Coquitlam city council as an independent candidate ahead of the Oct. 17 municipal election.
A lifelong Coquitlam resident, Thorleifson says she wants to address concerns about rapid growth by increasing two- and three-bedroom housing while ensuring schools, parks and community services keep pace.
Her proposed “Coquitlam Works” plan would seek employers near SkyTrain stations and industrial areas such as United Boulevard. She says the approach could diversify the local economy, create jobs closer to home and ease pressure on residential property taxes.
Thorleifson also supports small businesses and a fast-track permitting stream modelled on programs in Surrey and Toronto. Her platform includes retaining Canadian data in Canada, improving lighting and safety, protecting green space and strengthening wildfire resilience.
She has worked in marketing and business growth and has served as a strata council president. Thorleifson is also calling for more transparency and opportunities for residents to be heard at city hall.
