Burnaby’s Car Free Day set for Edmonds on Aug. 30
Burnaby will hold a free Car Free Day festival in Edmonds on Aug. 30, with road closures, parking restrictions and detours for two Route 106 bus services.

Burnaby will host its Car Free Day festival in Edmonds on Sunday, Aug. 30, from noon to 5 p.m. The free event, presented with TransLink, will take place on Edmonds Street between Kingsway and Mary Avenue.
The festival will include live entertainment, a family stage, games and activities, and local food and drinks. City officials say the event is intended to encourage walking, cycling, transit and other car-free ways of getting around.
Road closures will be in effect from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Aug. 30 on Edmonds Street between Kingsway and Mary Avenue; parts of Humphries Avenue, Linden Avenue, Noble Lane and Fulton Avenue will also be closed. The Linden Avenue closure includes restricted access to underground commercial and residential parking from Edmonds Street.
Street parking on the affected roads will be prohibited from 11:59 p.m. Aug. 29 until 12:01 p.m. Aug. 31. Route 106 Edmonds and Route 106 New West buses will be detoured during the event, and additional service will run from Edmonds SkyTrain Station to the festival.
