NDP Leader David Eby made a brief campaign stop in Langley on Thursday, Oct. 15, meeting local candidates and volunteers. The incumbent premier spoke to supporters at the campaign office of Andrew Mercier, the NDP candidate in Langley-Willowbrook. Holly Isaac, the candidate in Langley-Walnut Grove, was also there.

Eby gave a short speech promoting his party’s plans to regulate prices for essential groceries and keep car insurance low. He also took several shots at BC Conservative Leader Lorne Doerkson following the leaders debate on Wednesday, Oct. 14. “The Conservative leader is in hiding right now,” Eby claimed. He left without taking questions.

Doerkson also visited Langley earlier in the campaign. During a stop at Krause Berry Farms & Estate Winery on Sept. 29, he promised to remove the 10 per cent provincial sales tax (PST) on Canadian-produced alcohol.

The party leaders have not appeared in Langley often during this campaign. Eby and Doerkson have visited Surrey several times as the NDP and BC Conservatives compete for the ridings there.
