Port Coquitlam voters can cast ballots early in 2026 local election
Port Coquitlam is holding two advance polls this week ahead of the Oct. 17 general voting day. Voters will choose a mayor, six councillors and two school trustees, each for a four-year term; eligibility and voting locations are listed by the city.

Port Coquitlam voters can cast ballots this week at two advance polls in the 2026 General Local Election. Qualified voters can vote before the Oct. 17 general voting day to elect one mayor, six councillors and two school trustees, each serving a four-year term.
Local government decisions directly affect daily life in Port Coquitlam, including property taxes, road and transit priorities, parks, recreation and public safety. The ballot also includes two seats on the Board of Education, which sets priorities for local schools, including programs, budgets and facilities. This election is separate from provincial and federal elections, with its own candidates, ballot and voting locations. The city says voters should not confuse the elections or skip this vote thinking another election covers it. Every vote helps determine who makes these decisions for Port Coquitlam over the next four years.
Advance polls run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Port Coquitlam Community Centre – Mabbett Hall, 2150 Wilson Ave., and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Hyde Creek Recreation Centre, 1379 Laurier Ave.
Resident electors must live in the City of Port Coquitlam, be at least 18 years old on Oct. 17, 2026, be Canadian citizens, have been B.C. residents for at least six months immediately before the day of registration, and not be disqualified from voting. Non-resident property electors should contact the Election Office to confirm eligibility and register at 604.927.5212 or [email protected]. Bring two pieces of identification to register, such as a B.C. driver’s licence or B.C. Services Card and proof of residency, such as a phone bill.
The city website has information on when and where to vote, candidates, requirements for resident voters and non-resident property electors, acceptable identification for registration at the polls, and information for candidates.
