LAPS hosts kitten-care crash course in Langley
A free Sept. 9 session will offer training in caring for neonatal and orphaned kittens, with no fostering experience required.

Langley Animal Protection Society has become Canada's first National Kitten College Campus, expanding access to specialized education in neonatal and orphaned kitten care. National Kitten College is a non-profit organization that works with shelters and rescue groups to improve kitten care and survival rates.
To mark the milestone, LAPS is sponsoring a free training session on Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Christian Life Assembly in Langley. The session will cover neonatal and orphaned kitten care.
Executive director Sarah Jones said neonatal kittens depend heavily on caregivers for warmth, nutrition, hygiene and close monitoring, and their condition can change quickly. She said the program is intended to make care less intimidating and give more people the skills and confidence to foster kittens and help save more animals across the Lower Mainland.
The session at 21277 56 Ave. is open to anyone interested in learning, including prospective foster caregivers with LAPS or another animal-welfare organization. No previous fostering experience is required. In-person space is limited, and a Zoom option may be offered depending on interest. Registration is available by email at info@lapsbc.ca.
