More than 5,000 residents and visitors attended the annual White Rock and South Surrey Culture Crawl over the weekend. Held Oct. 3 and 4, the event offered more than 45 free activities across six neighbourhoods on the Semiahmoo Peninsula. The City of White Rock and City of Surrey co-hosted the two-day event, which featured more than 250 local artists, performers and cultural contributors. Activities included exhibits, hands-on workshops, live music, heritage experiences and community markets.
Highlights included the Mid-Autumn Festival of Cultural Connections, presented by SOURCES; the Made on the Peninsula Art Market; and the Kaleidoscope Arts Festival. Each gave visitors opportunities to connect directly with artists, makers and cultural organizations. Indigenous culture and knowledge were also an important part of the weekend. The Amelia Douglas Institute, BC Centre for Métis Culture and Language offered visitors a chance to learn about Métis history, culture and language. Semiahmoo First Nation artist Joan Williams shared traditional knowledge through a cedar weaving workshop.
White Rock Mayor Megan Knight said the Culture Crawl continues to showcase the creativity, talent and cultural diversity that make the community a vibrant place to live, work and visit. She said it was wonderful to see so many residents and visitors support the artists, performers and cultural organizations that make the Peninsula special. Volunteers contributed their time, enthusiasm and hospitality to welcome visitors throughout the weekend. Artists, performers, community organizations, volunteers and event partners came together for a celebration of art, culture, learning and community connection, contributing to the success of the 2026 Culture Crawl.
