Dogs turn out for White Rock woman's 91st birthday

A White Rock woman marked her 91st birthday with a steady stream of visiting dogs after her son made an appeal on social media.

Ruth sat outside Bean Around the World at Johnston Road and Thrift Avenue with her son Chris and daughter-in-law Tara as local dog owners brought their pets by to say hello. Many of the smaller dogs sat on her lap while she petted them and received treats.

Chris said his mother's own dog had died recently, making the visits especially meaningful. He said she had been smiling more than he had seen in some time.

Most visitors came from White Rock and South Surrey, though one visitor from Vernon brought her Cavapoo, Mocha. People also brought Ruth flowers and other birthday gifts.
