Canada’s first surf park planned for Sea to Sky corridor
Tiger Development and Wavegarden plan to build a six-acre surf lagoon near Britannia Beach, with construction expected next spring and opening targeted for 2029.

Canada’s first surf park is planned for the Sea to Sky corridor between Vancouver and Whistler. Tiger Development Corporation is partnering with Spain-based Wavegarden on the project near Britannia Beach.
The facility is to feature a six-acre lagoon with waves for beginners through to six- and seven-foot barrel waves for experienced surfers. Wavegarden says it has built 13 surf parks in Europe, Australia and the United States, with 10 more under construction.
Construction south of the Britannia Mine Museum is expected to begin next spring. The surf park is scheduled to open in 2029 as the centrepiece of a broader Britannia South development that is planned to include about 1,000 homes, a hotel, commercial space and a town centre.
The partners say they expect local users to be the main customer base, while also hoping to draw visitors and people already travelling to the region for skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking and climbing.
