With 66 people seeking votes, a Surrey council candidates forum is expected to be busy in Guildford on Tuesday, Oct. 6. The public meeting is co-hosted by the Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade and the South Asian Business Association of BC, and starts at 6 p.m. at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel. Organizers say not all 66 council candidates will attend, but a conservative estimate is 40 or more. The address is 15269 104 Ave., Surrey. The ballroom can accommodate about 300 voters, and registration is still open at swrbot.com.
People unable to attend can watch a recording on the board of trade’s YouTube channel. The video will be uploaded overnight; the event will not be livestreamed. Seven candidates for Surrey mayor will take part in a debate at the Guildford hotel at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7. That video will be uploaded the following day for public viewing.
The board of trade’s YouTube channel also has recordings of all-candidates meetings for White Rock council and mayor, held Sept. 21 and 22 at White Rock Community Centre. Advance voting in the Surrey and White Rock civic election starts Wednesday, Oct. 7. Final voting day is Oct. 17.
