Cloverdale Chamber begins series of seven civic-slate open houses
The Cloverdale District Chamber of Commerce has held the first two of seven non-partisan open houses for East Surrey voters, with five more sessions scheduled through Sept. 21.

The Cloverdale District Chamber of Commerce has begun a series of seven open houses featuring civic slates. The first sessions, with Imagine Surrey on Sept. 9 and Safe Surrey Coalition on Sept. 11, were well attended, according to executive director Scott Wheatley.
Wheatley said the events are non-partisan opportunities for voters in Cloverdale, Clayton and Campbell Heights to discuss East Surrey issues with candidates in an informal setting. Each session includes one-minute candidate introductions, a brief discussion based on Chamber-selected questions, followed by conversation and networking. Several dozen people attended the first event at the Chamber office, and Wheatley expects similar interest for the remaining meetings based on registrations.
The remaining open houses are scheduled for Sept. 14 with Surrey Now and mayoral candidate Troy Van Vliet; Sept. 15 with Surrey Connect and Brenda Locke; Sept. 17 with Surrey First and Linda Annis; Sept. 18 with the Conservative Party of Surrey and Honveer Singh Randhawa; and Sept. 21 with New Surrey+ and Igal Ammons II. All sessions run from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Chamber office, 5738 176th Street. Pre-registration is requested through cloverdalechamber.ca or info@cloverdalechamber.ca.
