Family of Burnaby senior killed by stray bullet appeals for information
The family of 85-year-old Chang Yong Cho is urging anyone with information about the Aug. 30 shooting to contact IHIT.

The family of an 85-year-old Burnaby senior killed by a stray bullet inside his home is appealing for information about the Aug. 30 shooting.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says Chang Yong Cho’s sons have issued a statement asking anyone with knowledge of the crime to come forward. The family also asked anyone involved to surrender to police and urged the youth identified by investigators, and their parents, to do the right thing.
Shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 30, Burnaby RCMP responded to reports of shots fired near 18th and Humphries avenues. The suspect vehicle had left before officers arrived, police say, and officers were unable to find anyone connected to the shooting.
At about 4 p.m. that day, police were asked to conduct a welfare check at an apartment building on Kingsway near Britton Street, about a block from the reported shooting. Officers entered the apartment and found Cho dead from a gunshot wound.
Anyone with information can call the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
