Harvest dinner and market planned for new Common Ground Farms in Surrey
Common Ground Farms will launch as a working farm and gathering space during a Sept. 26–27 Harvest Weekend in Surrey’s Hazelmere area.

Common Ground Farms will launch as a working farm and gathering space during Harvest Weekend, scheduled for Sept. 26 and 27 in Surrey’s Hazelmere area. The 100-acre property at 17948 8 Ave., formerly polo grounds, includes a renovated heritage red barn built in 1991 as a polo clubhouse.
A Harvest Market is planned for Saturday, Sept. 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will feature three dozen local vendors, food trucks, a beer and wine garden, corn shucking, pumpkin painting, apple bobbing and sack races for children. Parking is free.
A Harvest Long Table Dinner, presented with Fraser Valley Wine Collective, will follow on Sunday, Sept. 27, in the renovated barn. Tickets cost $169 through eventbrite.com. The dinner will feature locally inspired food and Fraser Valley wine, with a silent auction benefiting PacificSport Fraser Valley. Manulife Wealth and Gold Key Life are the presenting sponsors.
Emma and Craig Schouten operate Common Ground Farms, which is intended to host weddings, markets, workshops, creative projects, wellness experiences and corporate gatherings. Bobbi-Rhea Mackie, business development director and co-founder of Mackie’s Place in North Surrey, said the weekend will be Fraser Valley Wine Collective’s second annual Harvest Weekend. The group has also held monthly markets at Chapter Estates Winery and its Summer Sampler series featuring local wineries and beverage producers.
