Black bear killed after man attacked in Port Coquitlam
A black bear was killed after conservation officers concluded it was responsible for biting a man outside a Port Coquitlam apartment complex Sunday afternoon.

A black bear was killed after it attacked a man outside an apartment complex in Port Coquitlam on Sunday afternoon, the B.C. Conservation Officer Service says.
The agency said it was notified at about 3 p.m. The bear had left by the time officers arrived, but later returned and was tranquillized. Following an investigation, officers determined it was responsible for the attack and killed it because of public-safety concerns.
The incident is among several black bear attacks reported in B.C. in August. A separate attack in the Cowichan Valley on Saturday prompted the closure of a regional park, while a bear that attacked a three-year-old in a Maple Ridge backyard on Aug. 9 was later tracked down and killed.
